WNYC2 24/7 classical on the internet has been playing original movie score recordings continiously for the last few days. Some really good listening. In addition to the known classics some that I was not aware of. What a great experience to hear so many movie great composers and scores at one ime. Movie score writing is often neglected in the music world but there are some excellent works to be heard there. Congradulation and thanks to WNYC2.
Follow Ups:
Movie scores don't get the compositional respect they deserve. I've often wondered whether the droning atonal crap passed off as music by many 20th Century composers was simply the result of the real composing talent going to Hollywood, leaving the field to dull academics and technicians.
how in many films the musical score has contributed to its success. Of course good directing/ acting and script are the core of great films /but in many cases the score has contributed to the success of the film. This to me is a part of the movie experience.
