I am NOT a film aficionado as are most of the posters here.
My wife rented this film several months ago and, based on the title, I figured, "Oh boy, a chick flick", but was resigned to sit through it.
The start of the film was slow.
But , as it got on. I found if humorous, most of the characters were somewhat developed and I got on board their trek.
The movie had some momentum to it and the end suited the picture.
A "thought provoking " masterpiece? No
An unexpected humorous flick. Yes.
Crap ? I guess its a matter of opinion.Personally, when I read or hear of "Great" films, I am primed to look only for being impressed by the flick.
More often than not, my expectations are rarely exceeded .Other people's opinions dont always match mine and I often times am disappointed by what they think are fantastic films.Victor,
Since I am rather new at film viewing,
What are your expectations of every film?
How do you gauge whether a film has worth?
Do you factor nothing more than going on a simple ride as having worth?
Do you expect hidden , unsaid , cryptic messages from every film?
(And , as an aside, thanks for sending me those capacitors a while back, you are the best!)
Follow Ups:
Hard to explain what I look for in films, basically anything that touches me. It doesn't have to be some high art, as long as it is honest and not manipulative. And of course anything we say here is the matter of opinion, that goes without saying.Virtually nothing touched me in LMS.
