As briefly summarized at rotten tomatoes, "the story is set during the final days of World War II in Holland, and follows a Jewish singer named Rachel Stein (Carice Van Houten). Rachel attempts to avoid the Nazis and remains in quiet hiding until her family is brutally slain, causing her to join up with a resistance movement."This is the work of the Dutch filmmaker, Paul Verhoeven, who also directed "Soldier of Orange," another movie about the Dutch resistance during World War II (the latter movie starred Rutger Hauer).
Highly recommended. Carice Van Houten is wonderful as the female protagonist who is despised and loved by Dutch and German alike.
