After the debacle that was "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" I was looking foreward to a good flick and "Pay it Foreward" was it. Outstanding performances by Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt (who was perfect as the poor white trailer trash/alcoholic mother). But it was Haley Joel Osment who once again stole the show as he did in "Sixth Sense". Yeah it was kind of sappy in parts, but the overall I enjoyed the movie and highly recommend it.It's the story of a teacher (Spacey) who gives his middle school class an assigment to do something to change the world. Osment is the student who develops the idea to "pay it foreward", which involves one person helping three, who in turn help three more, and so on. A newspaper reporter is one beneficiary of the pay it foreward concept and eventually tracks down Osment as the source of the idea. Along the way we see others who pass along the good deeds as the pay it foreward idea spreads.
I won't reveal the ending, but get the Kleenex ready.
Follow Ups:
Great movie in my opinion. The ending was a big surprise to me though.
I would highly recomend it also.
