As a long time fan, I've understood the basics of the back-story for around 20 years. I very much enjoyed Episode I for the simple fact that I knew where Lucas was going with it all. And there are many new elements that have never been told before so fans like me are still surprised. Like many, I had certain expectations for this movie. And in most respects, those expectations were fulfilled. Many of the complaints that I've heard about E-I will be responded to in the coming films. I've heard many say the same as you. In some respects I think I understand. Lucas crammed a lot of stuff and many different races of characters in E-I. This is the kind of stuff that kept me from finishing Dune. (the novel) While I had high expectations for E-I, I also understood another aspect of these movies that I think escaped many adults: They're made for the young and young at heart. There are many cynical people out there who IMO have forgotten what it's like to be that innocent. My father used to tell me to never lose sight of the kid inside you. So, I haven't. And I can't wait until next spring!Peace,

Well, I'll definitely go see the next Episode, Rob. Have no doubt about that; and I hope that George L. hasn't lost the touch.Your reaction to Dune is interesting and the opposite to mine. Although it was some time ago that I read the "Dune" books, I wasn't "young" then; and I was completely captivated by them. One of the frustrating things for me is that both efforts to bring the story to the screen have been failures -- both the theatrical movie version and the recent "mini-series" version that was made for and shown on Sci-Fi channel. In both instances, lots of money was spent on sets, effects and actors. Somehow it just didn't work for me, although I like the Sci-fi channel version better.
