No, I disagree. Much of the Malting ratings IMO, are fairly well
balanced and accurate for the most part, especially considering the
encapsulated form that must be adhered to. Maltin's
bias against violence, FX, etc. that he finds overly repugnant shows
through more than once. For example, besides Alien, he downgraded
The Thing remake for the same reason. I realize that art is a matter
of taste, but many people disagree with him on these films, if you
don't believe me, look at their ratings at www.imdb.com. - AH
Maltin does have a good feel for films in my opinion. I don't always agree with him (BladeRunner? Now come on, that movie was great despite the screwups), but I appreciate his opinions none the less. I won't list the reviewers that I disagree with (80% of the time) because it's too long a list. Usually, when movies are first released, I read their reviews. If they liked it, chances are I'll think it's crap. If they didn't like it, I'm usually the first in line!
