I did not pay to see this thank god. I have a friend who works in the theater who managed to sneak me and some obnoxious girls in a private screeing booth of this. This is possibly the worst action movie ever made. I am young so I haven't seem as many blunders as you old timers but I'd like to warn anybody interested in this to stay away. The dialogue is very pretentiously written. The only redeeming quality of the movie is watching the funny short man Devito curse up a storm and chomp on a cigar. Definately an Edward G. Robinson wannabe. The pace of this movie is very slow and without rythem. The conflict presented is so passive. If Ghandi were to attempt to make an action movie this would be it.
Follow Ups:
The sight of Ricky Jay pronouncing the Mametesque pretentious boast, "He's so cool that when sheep go to sleep they count him," just made me utter: "Oh, Brother!"That, and the thought of Rebecca Pidgeon trying to play a sexy femme fatale in another one of her husband's films. Too bad. I really enjoyed Mamet's "Glengarry Glenn Ross."
The best heist film of the year was "Sexy Beast," and the heist was secondary to the character conflicts in that film. Ben Kingsley rules!
