There was a film which starred, or was narrated by, Frank Buck that featured a long sequence (5 to 10 minutes I think) of a battle between a Tiger and a Python which I believe the snake won.
Anyone remember the name of the film, and if is it available on DVD or VHS?
Follow Ups:
The scene you are referring to about tiger vs python is the closing
one in Frank Buck's "Bring Em Back Alive"-1933, I believe. There
is also Buck's "Wild Cargo"-1934; "Fang and Claw"-1935; and "Jungle
Menace"(15 Episodes)-1937.
I have seen "Jungle Cavalcade"-1941; it comes on American Movie
Classics TV Station on rare occasion, JC is a montage of interesting scenes from the first three films mentioned above. Some of the
scenes include: an ingenious way of catching monkeys (playing upon
their closely related human-nature!); tiger
vs crokidile; crokidile vs python; panther vs python; tiger vs
panther; python vs Frank Buck(!), python vs unsuspecting caged wild
pig, and pig-owners, etc.
Unfortunately, none of these films are available in any format; the
best one can do is try and catch them on AMC and record them off of
TV. - AH
Thanks VERY much for info on the film!
Interesting re the Cat vs. Snake versions (Panther, Tiger), don't remember which I saw (been several yrs.) but as I remember, the Cat was the loser.
