On every TV there is adjusment for contrast and brightness. Try to decrease contrast and increase brightness.

My bad inferior S-video cord is guilty RCA sucks - Darkpicture 23:55:46 02/17/02 (0)
I replaced the av cable just for fun and it worked fine
