While I'm sure there are others, you can take a look at the Toshiba SD5700, SD9200 (Stereophile recommended), or the Denon DVD2800 and soon to be released DVD3800.You can check for reviews at Ecoustics.

Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression that the Toshibas play VCDs but not SVCDs. A friend has the just-released Toshiba SD2800 and it definitely doesn't play SVCDs.I will look into the Denons. Thanks again.
Honestly wasn't sure about the SVCD capabilities other than I read on one site that players that do CD-R/CD-RW should also do SVCD?
Found a good site for your research at VCDHelp, appears to be a European site so some of the model numbers will differ. Look on the left-hand side of the page and there is a link to compatible DVD players.
Not sure how comprehensive their lists are, doesn't appear to have some of the more recent players listed.
