As some of you are aware, the Sony DVD-S360 is one of the biggest let down on the market (dare I say a total PEICE OF CRAP, as comfirmed by the amount of reviews at audio review.com)! I now know- mine died last night right in the middle of a movie (Topsy Turvy- great pic, BTW).So here's what I need-
A DVD player for under $300 that will play CD-R, has good reliability (of course!), and if I'm not asking for too much, play DVD-A discs (not mandatory, but that would be a nice feature).
Progressive scan is not that important yet as my TV cannot accept it, although it will do 16x9.
HELP! I just want to continue watching movies! I'll be shopping this Saturday, so lets hear what you guys have and like!

Both Toshiba models meet your requirements. The only apparent difference is that the SD5700 adds HDCD to the mix.
