I was going to buy my amp first and then my SSP, but I scored a major deal (!!!) on a Ref 30 that I couldn't pass up.I've looked at:
B&K Ref 3220 (great bang for the buck; rolled off top end?)
Sunfire Cinema Grand (for some reason I don't want to like it)
Parasound 2205 (good price, but thin in the uppers?)
Anthem (thin throughout)
Adcom (shrill)
Rotel (didn't move me)I haven't auditioned the Bryston, Classe or Proceed (these are really pushing my budget).
Thoughts?
Follow Ups:
I'm using an ATI 1505 for the center and 4 surrounds and a ATI 1504 bridged to my Maggie 1.6's. I really like the ATI although they are a little bright for the maggies.
I use at alternate times my Cinepro 3K6, Series III or review amplifiers. These days, the Ref 30 is only performing DD/DTS duties -- most of my music listening is to SACD and DVD-A, and I have a dedicated 6 channel preamp for this task (EMM Labs Switchman-II).
