In Reply to: S-video, My TV will not recognise the composite video RCA input if S-video cable is plugged in posted by Timbo in OZ on March 25, 2002 at 22:20:17:
Doesn't your tv have multiple inputs? My Pansonic does:
1 & 2 are devoted to component
3,4,5 can be composite or S-videoI have components plugged into almost all of them.
Your receiver should also have multiple input capability
Follow Ups:
It has two input sockets but the TV's remote doesn't adress them nor does the manual mention switching between them. The system centre is a Yamaha DSP E492 which can switch a bunch of video inputs, just so long as they are composite video. Pity about that, HT is very low priority, but safety isn't it would be convenient too.
As I said in another return post, I think I will need a 'comp to s' converter box, and an in line 2 to 1 S-video switch, for the DVD players S-video out.
If I can get a kit like a pcb I'd put the switching inside thr box and run just one cable to the TV.
