DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS?
I thinking about buying a Panasonic AG-1980 SVHS VCR. I didn't see it on their web site (either professional or consumer), so I expect it's been discontinued (though I don't see it on clearance, anywhere).Basically, I want a deck with professional reliability, Digital TBC, and Digital Noise Reduction. Flying erase heads & jog/shuttle wheel would also be nice, but aren't required, for my purposes.
BTW, I already have a JVC HR-S9600U, which is still working fine, after over 2 years moderate use. I heard the quality went down, with the 9800, and I want my 2nd SVHS deck to be *better* than my first; not worse.
Follow Ups:
I have an AG1980 which I purchased over six years ago. Couldn't be happier with its quality - in terms of making the best S-VHS tapes possible from miniDV and S-VHS masters, and in terms of durability! Will also play back my 14 year old collection of VHS and S-VHS tapes recorded on all kinds of equipment, and play it back without jitter, roll, and at minimum noise. Far better than ANY of the five JVC machines I have! Recommend it highly. You can pick it up at jandr.com for under $1,000.
