My parents found a TV at costco that they seem pretty serious on getting TODAY (april 14th).They are looking to get the Paasonic PT47W49 for aroun 1600 if i remember correctly.
Two concerns!
1) is this a good purchase, or should they spend this money on another TV. Widescreen is not required, but HDTV ready/semi large screen is.
2)Lets say that 80% of what they watch is NOT widescreen. Is there a problem with the black bars burning in? NO SPECULATION PLEASE=)..only fact please=)MANY THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!
Follow Ups:
1) It's a good, but not great price.2) It's fact, I've seen burn-in and it isn't pretty.
I would recommend an ISF calibration at 2-3 months if they are at all serious about picture quality.
You can try stretch modes if you'd like.
BTW, JVC is coming out very soon with a 48" widescreen D'ILA rear projection set for about US$2400 MSRP soon that might be worth a serious look at too.
