Hi, I was wondering if anybody has had trouble playing certain DVD's on these toshiba players. Also, when using this player with a widescreen TV do you still get the black line on top and bottom of the screen. Any help would be appreciated.

With respect to letterboxing (black bars top and bottom), it depends on the material.
Widescreen TVs have an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 (aka 16:9). If the DVD you are watching is wider than that (1.85:1, 2.33:1, 2.66:1) you have two options -- geometric distortion or black bars. VIdeo purists believe in preserving the Original Aspect Ratio, so the black bars is the "better" option.
In terms of trouble material -- I didn't run across any when I played with the player, but I only put on about 5 or 6 discs.
