hello, since i currently only have two speakers, would pcm not be the better choice (uncompressed - better sound)? would there be no need for a processor in such case, or am i missing something obvious? tia

Not too many DVDs have true PCM tracks, unfortunately. What the DVD player will do if you set it to PCM and play a disc that has only Dolby Digital is to convert the DD to PCM using some kind of conversion process. In my experience, the sound is noticeably inferior to using a Dolby Digital receiver or preamp/processor.Todd
