Are you referring to the D connector? The Japanese version of an all-in-one component video connector, the D connector comprises four variants: D1 (480i), D2 (480i, 480p), D3 (480i, 480p, 1080i) and D4 (480i, 480p, 1080i, 720p). I hope I got it right.Alan Hsu

the Japanese model has component video output just like the US version (check the Japanese site). Why does the US always get shafted on the color?
I am big into components that aren't black. But you read the comments around here from some people, and they hate stuff that isn't black, think it looks cheap. IMO, go into a CC or BB etc., and it's pretty apparent what the color of stuff is that IS cheap, but that's changing quite rapidly now, and "silver" is back in vogue, after 25 years or so. Not that color is in any way indicative of quality, I'd just like the choice. [BTW, that's part of the reason I ordered the RP82 (below) instead of another RP56, my parents can have the black RP56 and they won't care.]
