and it all depends on your VCR. Maxell used to make some great tapes. Personally, I think the best tape I bought was a TDK XP Super Pro. Great colors and great sound. I am using them with a Mitsubishi VCR. Your best bet is to buy the best two tapes those mfr's make, and record 5 minute clips of the same show. That should tell you which is better.
