Cable and a VCR (RCA).
This is interesting. I just bought a Sony receiver, and my Tivo and DVD and FM tuner don't start sounding "normal" loudness until I get to 30+ on the volume dial. Have you just tried turning it up? I don't know if this is normal or not....James.
