IMO, Bose is overpriced junk. The Bose buyer is paying for the marketing of their cheaply built products, and a person would be better off buying almost anything else. I would recommend some kind of relatively inexpensive HT receiver and a set of Paradigm speakers and subwoofer. A $500-600 receiver with a set of Titans in the front, Atoms in back, and whatever center channel and sub would go with that, would absolutely crush the Bose system in terms of performance. I guided a friend to this type of system a year or two ago, and they were very satisfied with the performance. Cost was less than $1500, I think.
