The component video interface uses color difference signals to keep the red, green, and blue separated all the way into the display. S-Video separates the luminance signal from the chroma signal, but the red, green, and blue signals are mixed together in the chroma signal during the transit from the source into the display. Component video will provide a better picture, but the degree of improvement is reputed to not be as large as that of S-Video over composite (the single RCA connection).Todd
