Hello Everybody,Last year I bought a Sony xbr450 and now I like to put some better speakers on it. To this end I have two questions.
1. Can you use the TV's internal amplifier to run a set of very efficient speakers?
2. What is the best speaker set for $700? I could stretch my budget but if their is really something special out there.
If the answer to part one is a resounding NO, then I need some opinions on a receiver and speaker system. How much do I need to spend for a decent system? Remember, I have a wife..........
BTW, it’s really great forum that you have here. I posted a few times last year and it’s great to see that this forum is going as strong as ever.
Thank you in advance.
P.S. I have the same question posed at the Speakers Asylum because I am not sure which is the right place to ask this question

Sorry about the duplication. I thought it did not post.
As they told you in the speaker asylum (cross-posts are frowned on but I shouldn't talk as I have done so myself once or twice), the amp built in to a TV will be hissy and underpowered. A good used A/V receiver shouldn't set you back more than $200, and would be well worth the investment (five discrete channels, subwoofer out, DTS and Dolby Digital decoding, video switching capability and various sound processing modes).
