I can get a Harman Kardon AVR 30 used (long time store demo model) for $200 (retailed new for $1150 about 5-6 years ago). I want to use it in my secondary HT system (right/center/left/(2)rears/powered sub). It won't get used very often in the HT mode (I watch sports on it when the main TV is being watched by wife/kid) but will get used to listen to CD's and radio. Anyone have any experience with this model? Is it acceptable for use as an audio receiver? I know in the HT mode it is missing the ability to function with some of the newer formats. For $200 it makes me wonder if there is some reliability issues or faults with this model.

I had a Harman Kardon AVR20 and it made pretty nice music. I also had a top of the line, very expensive, AVR 65 and it was pretty mediocre.I wouldn't pay $200 for an old HK without warranty. You can do much better. For example, a Technics SADX 940-1050 just blows the AVR 65 away. It's difficult to compare by memory but I'd say the Technics also bests the AVR20 for musicality. Technics, just a thought.
