Yes, this if this TV can scan at 1080i, it is an HDTV ready TV that can accept a progressive scan input from a DVD player, avoiding the TV's internal line doubler. The picture should improve at least slightly.Todd

I second Todd but would like to add that, even an inexpensive progressive scan DVD player such as mine (Sony DVP-NS715) can vastly improve the pictures on my Sony RPTV (KP65-WV600). Extremely film like is what I can describe when watching DVD movies on my set.
