I am wondering how the Cal Audio Lab CL-25 stacks up against new progressive scan DVD players, like the Sony DVP 9000ES, as far as video performance. As far as I can tell from past published reviews, the CL-25 does not have progressive scan, but does a great job with video imaging. Since there is no longer a Cal Audo website, cannot verify its capabilities. I am hoping that someone might know and also have an opinon about its video capability. Everyone seems to agree its CD audio performance is terrific.
Follow Ups:
None of Cal audio's dvd players have progressive scan. I have the 2500 the last one they made. I've never seen the picture of the Cl-25 but can vouch for the audio. The Cl-2500 has a great picture. In the progressive scan mode the Sony has the advantage. If you are using the component out with 480i, I'd give the edge to Cal. Actually the pictures look very similar but the Sony seem a little softer.
