100 hrs seems to be the most kicked around number. Just be sure that all parameters (color, brightness, contrast, etc) are set at reasonable levels during this time. Plasmas are at risk for image "burn in", as in "it won't go away", just like most display devices. After this "break in" period, do or get a proper calibration. It will benefit you in the long run.

Thanks. Glad I'm not crazy.Do you know of any good list of preferred tweaks for plasma units? I have a less than ideal vga display from the computer, and wonder whether a cable will make a difference there too. Also noticed that a ferrite core--came with the Sony--seemed to clean up the satellite signal when I placed it on the tuner's power cord. So should I extend the lunacy--maybe run RG6 from the dish, upgrade all the cords to 10 gauge, buy/build a Risch-style power conditioner, etc. etc.
