In Reply to: Is the Outlaw Audio 1050 still the best for price? posted by jkeigs on November 27, 2002 at 16:31:21:
I have no experience with the Outlaw. Feature-wise, many newer models by brands like Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo, Pioneer and Marantz offer a much more up-to-date feature set, with DPLII, more discreet six or seven channel suround modes, improved connectivity, etc. That said, the Outlaw has a reputation as a budget A/V receivers for consumers with audiophile leanings. If you can live without some of the newer features, I'd suggest an in-home comparison. For example, you can order the Outlaw and a Denon AVR-1803 from Crutchfield, and keep only the one you like best. You might lose a few bucks in shipping, but at least you'll feel like you made the best choice.
