That is odd that you would experience this with two completely different systems. Though, I believe it with CNN. Here's your checklist:
-Try a cheater plug to test for ground loop (#1 problem)
-Remove and reconnect all connectors
-Verify no speaker wires are shorting
-Take one of the noticable DVD's to someone elses system, and make sure that it's not your ears
-Try line conditioner
-Start swapping equipment and or cables, one at a time
