Ok, I admit it, I liked that Phillips commercial with the Flat screen tv mounted on the ceiling over the bed. Can this actually be done? Is there any technical problem with doing this, beyond the fact that the mounting has to be rock solid or my life could be shortened by my hobby? What about the darkness of the bedroom? Will that be a bigger problem with a plasma or an lcd?
What about the angle? How well do these flat screens work mildly off angle. Specifically, if I wanted to mount it a few feet down from directly above my head, is a slightly tilted angle required to make viewing work well.
Your thoughts. Please try to keep cynical comments to a miniumu, unless they are truly humourous.

Laser? I guess it would be OK, but I'd advise you not to look directly into the beam.
:-)Since you are already aware of the safety issues, I'll skip that lecture. Now although the plasma on the ceiling looks cool, it is not a good idea. One of the biggest concerns in the manufacture of plasma monitors is the integrity of the glass. Due to the fact that plasma glass is fused to the material/electronics directly behind it and a ceiling mount will make the glass the support for that material, a ceiling mount will tend to bow the glass due to gravity and the deformed glass will distort the image. You will of course run the risk that the distortion extends outward from the monitor anywhere from 1/2 an inch to a few feet. IF you know what I mean.
An LCD panel on the ceiling might be an alternative solution. They are constructed in a different way and, as long as you don't need a large display, they may fit the bill for you. If size is a concern, I believe a 50"+ consumer panel is about 2 years away. Sharp does make a 22" and 30" model at this time. Even then, $ will still be an issue -- but then again, maybe your real name is "MoneyBags". The viewing angle should not be that great a concern due to the viewing distance.
One of the best places for plasma and LCD info is the "Plasma and LCD Displays" area at:
