Just picked up used second sub. So now I have one from Triad, and one from M&K. I was thinking about using one sub for the front three channels, and one for the surround channels. That's primarily because they are totally different designs. My preamp/pro, a Proceed AVP I, allows for stereo subs. Does anyone have experience with utilizing two different subs in the same system? Would appreciate info on how you've hooked them up, and pros & cons.

Although I don't have mismatched subs yet, I plan to. Rather than run both subs from the same signal, I plan on letting my current Def Tech PF-15 do LFE-only duty, while setting up the new (better) sub to run in series with the main front speakers, so that my mains will be run full range. This would still be a mono-subwoofer setup (at least until I can buy a second new sub!). The bass from the center and surrounds will join the LFE signal in the Def Tech, but I hope to improve my 2-channel performance this way. With a reduced load (no bass from the front L/R channels), the LFE sub should perform better as well. I'd experiment with different connections and placements. It may take a while to get the best setup, but IMO, it will be worth it.
I do have two subs in my living/TV room, but for much different reasons than the application you have on your mind...When we watch TV, the built-in amplifier in TV (2*8W) feeds 2 DIY 2-way speakers, plus an inexpensive active subwoofer comes alive. I or my wife don't have to fiddle with the AV system. (I or my wife can't stand the built-in speakers of the TV)
When we watch DVD, I turn off the TV sound, and my granddad sub becomes active.
