While I have my Panasonic DVD player connected to the Denon AVR and all is well, I'd like to hook up so I can utilize my stereo's speakers and the AVR for the audio playback rather than my Toshiba TV's speakers.I want to be able to utilize the center channel speaker I have in the the configuration also. There is only one spot I noted on the AVR for a center channel connection from the TV (then one disables the TV's speakers with the flip of a switch) and I also utilized the audio inputs for the right and left front channels. There is also an input for the subwoofer there but I'm not interested in utilizing that for the time being.
When I did this connection, the sound was blaring from the speakers. I could not utilize the Denon AVR's volume contol to either raise nor lower the sound.
Hopefully I haven't confused you in what connections I utilized on the Denon AVR. It is not the 5.1 inputs on the AVR. Looking at the rear of the AVR, the inputs I utilized are on the right hand side of unit.
Follow Ups:
You could try to feed a stereo audio signal out of the RPTV,(fixed line level) to a stereo input of the Denon, like you would a Hi-Fi VCR, and set the Denon for Pro-Logic surround, or any other analog surround setting that sounds good.
