Hi guys,Sorry if this sounds like a daft question, but I would like to use my PC to act as a remote for my TV, DVD, Satellite receiver etc.
1/ Is this possible to do without knowing some detailed programming
language.2/ HInts, tips, recommendations etc are appreciated lots.

Yes it can be done. But you need extensive knowledge of electronics and programing language.
I did not see any product in a store. But checking the net you can find schematics and even dowload program that will do it.
Basicaly all idea is to use parallel port to drive couple IR LEDs. The same port is used to make computer "learn" commands from remote.
But why would you want to have $1000 remote for TV?
OK, some nice features can be implemented, like if you forget when your show is, a remote will switch to that channel at programed time. But you can actually get remote that will do this too.
