When I remodeled my house i had a company set up my HT system. The first week I had it, I had to call them back because they didnt wire in the rear wall mounted recessed speakers. I thought that was the last of the screw ups. Now i realize that they didnt hook up an HD decoder, an HD receiver of any kind, and they didnt hook up the main av receiver to the HDTV with component or s-video cables. Turns out they also didnt set the DVD player up with the right kind of tv we have, which has the 16:9 ratio, and so now we have a widescreen tv with a wider-screen image on it, and its all stretched out and shitty looking. Also, is there a different kind of dvd player made for HDTVs that make the quality better? To me it looks like watching a dvd on just a regular tv. Im wondering if i should/could ask for them to come back and rewire it free of charge, or if i should just go to like, tweeter or something and have them do it. Thanks
Follow Ups:
Option 1) Go through the Yellow Pages and try to locate a good A/V consultant. He/she can walk you through everything and since most of the hard work is already done (internal wiring etc.) may only charge an hour or two for consulting.Option 2) Make the connections yourself -- it really isn't that hard.
Option 3) Read the manual. Again, adjusting most of the settings isn't that tough.
As for your DVD question, a progressive scan machine is likely (but not guaranteed) to produce a better picture on your HDTV monitor.
