A quick question to those more knowledgable than I. I've been a music fan for years and have a reasonable stereo setup, but recently entered the world of HT with a Toshiba SD220 (UK) dvd player and an Acoustic Energy Aego P5 surround speaker system (incl decoder). Both units have had universally good reviews as entry level equipment. One thing I've noticed is that (relative to CD audio) there appears to be a huge variation in the quality of dvd audio from disc to disc. I listen mainly to music dvds, and quality (including EQ) variations from track to track are also significant in many cases -- I find myself setting the EQ separately for every disc (and sometimes more often).
So... to my question. Is this normal, or is it a function of the "small satellite" type system that the Aego is? Alternatively, could there be a decoder problem? Any thoughts / observations appreciated. Incidentally, cd performance through the same system is pretty good for this type of setup, and doesn't suffer from the variations in quality and EQ I'm hearing with dvds.
Thanks
Mark
