I have used composite in the past for component and it works. I imagine I will be crucified for admitting to it but it is a functional solution. I have since upgraded twice, as recently as today to a monster ultra thx. I swear I have the most beautiful picture ever. Sony kv-36xbr800 with a pioneer elite dv-c36. Now with better cables hooking them to each other.

when you upgraded from composite to "true" component video cables?Being somewhat distrustful of the whole cable mumbojumbo, I am curious if there is any real difference between composite & component cables.
All component cables are just three composite cables bundled together for convenience. The monster component ables are good, tributaries better and nordost best IMO.
