I just went through the process of buying my first widescreen.
The first TV that caught my eye was the Samsung DLP's.
Then I hit AVGUIDE.com Quickly lost my intrest in them. Then I heard all about how good the Pany Plasma was. Nice but they run hot and make noise. Besides PC Richards had on display a Sharp LCD. (unbelievable picture!) BUT! I have always read about stuck pixl's. Never had much thought about how bad can 1 stuck pixle look. Well it had 1 and only 1 right in the middle of the screen. A walk away and never looked back. They won't replace your set for 1 pixle. You'd be stuck with that 1 defect staring you right in your face all the time.
With closed loop HDTV signal the DLP's & the Plasma's were Stunning.
The old direct views were always a distant second. That was until I had them disconnect the Pany from the HDTV feed and hooked it up to the same cable feed they give the direct views. Bye bye Plasma's, bye bye DLP's, Hello direct views.Sony or even the Samsung DV widescreen is the way to try.
