Given the flux of technology right now, does anyone think DVI will do away with video scalars? Assuming the DVI device will support the popular resolutions?I'm giving thought to a nice display device, and I'm wondering if getting a high end scalar like Key Digital Leeza or Faroudja NRS-DVI would be obsoleted by DVI capable source devices such as a good DVD player?
I wouldn't have the need for component or other type connections as I do not watch TV - only rarely do I watch Discovery HD. I would hope future set top boxes will have DVI.
Follow Ups:
If DVD source mainly used, try Momitsu V880 - DVD player with built-in scaling and DVI-I out(both digital and analog VGA/RGB out in one port)including 1 on 1 pixel match up for digital PJs. If other source is 1080i HDTV then no scaler is needed. Momv880 can be had for about $300- a STEAL!
