I will be using my (older but excellent) Acoustic Energy AE1 speakers for my L & R fronts in a decent HT setup. I was able to obtain a single AE2 toi use as a center.....voicing very similar to the AE1.The AE2 is NOT shielded. It was used as a center in the distributor's HT set-up, with about 6" between the AE2 and the TV (the AE2 was below the TV).....with no problems. I will be using a Samsung 50" DLP TV with no CRT tube. I need to place the AE2 on the rack BELOW the TV. Three questions:
1. How much space is safe from the top of the unshielded AE2 to the bottom of the TV? Given that it is a DLP technology?
2. If I put it on the middle shelf of the rack below the TV (instead of the top shelf on the rack below the TV), and put my AV receiver (or DirecTV box and DVD player) on the top shelf, between the AE2 and the TV, does that provide added shielding?
3. Is there anything I can lay on top of the AE2 (oriented horizontally) to provide extra shielding.....a lead sheet like used in Xrays, etc? If so, what and where do I get it?
Thanks in advance.

do you really need a center channel. Try it without you could be amazed.
Not everybody need center channel. With excellent speaker, the two front image well so...

I don't believe your DLP TV will be affected by magnetic influences from your unshielded center channel speaker (unlike a CRT). If you are still concerned, got to google.com and search on 'mu metal' or 'magnetic shielding'. Mu metal is an alloy available in sheets or preformed enclosures for shielding oscilloscopes and other CRT screens as well as sensitive electronics from magnetic fields.
