I have a 34" CRT direct view so burn-in isn't much of an issue for me.I watch most 4:3 programming in 14:9 ratio rather than zoom. (I don't like full zoom.) This results in very narrow grey bars at the sides but they're not intrusive. You do lose a bit from the bottom and top of the frame but you can still read subtitles. Better visual impact than 4:3 - a good compromise IMO. Classic, Academy ratio films I watch in 4:3.
