I have the Denon AVR5803 and just got my Denon DVD5900 and as we all know usually the cables that are supplied with the components are of quetionable quality. Has anybody who has this combo tried a different RJ45 cable? Did it improve the sound? What cable did you use? TIA
Chris

Hello. I thought you might find the following information to interesting. In searching for an online vendor to sell me a replacement Denon Link cable for my DVD 9000 / AVR 5803 combo, I came across an article in Issue 84 of Widescreen Review that indicates that "Denon provides a special RJ-45 Cat. 5 cable with the DVD-9000 player (a standard Cat. 5 patch cable will not work)". See the link below.http://www.widescreenreview.com/todaynews/den010803.html
On the other hand, I've been told there are two types of Cat. 5 RJ-45s: one where the terminal of every wire on one end matches the terminal of that wire on the other end, and one where two of the wires start and end on mismatchng terminals. Perhaps the author of the article only knew the wrong type of RJ-45?
In any event, please let me know if you do find an aftermarket alternative, and I will do the same.
