Ground loops are common problem in TH. How about connecting the neutral and ground leads together in the wall socket then plugging in a power strip to run all the components into that socket? It would put the neutral and ground at the same potential. I think it would be safe since the ground is still connected but am I overlooking something?
Follow Ups:
Yes, the building code! The real solution is to find where the ground is & make sure it is clean & that there are no other ground points. Cable TV guys usually cause ground loops with the way they wire stuff. There are a number of gadgets on the market to address this problem, Ultralink, Mondial, etc. make stuff. I also found using a Panamax helped solve these problems.
