In Reply to: Video for Dummies: Can a NEC 1920nx computer monitor accept an upconverted DVI signal from a DVD player? posted by gbeard on October 18, 2004 at 13:17:21:
The DVI connection has some compatibility problems when mixing computer and video products. Many video displays with DVI inputs won't accept computer generated signals and even go so far as to have this printed in their manuals. That's not the case with 100% of the video displays out there, but it's enough to be a problem for many. The same goes for using DVI video products to feed computer DVI displays. Some do so with excellent results, while others don't work at all.The best advice is to try it and see if your setup will work (maybe you can bring the display to the store). If it doesn't make sure the store you get the DVD player from has a no-hassles return policy.
