I don't know if ecost.com will ship to Canada, but they have B-stock (refurbished by Denon) DVD-2900s for $499. I don't know the US-Canadian $ conversion, sorry.You might want to look at the Benchmark section at www.hometheaterhifi.com (scroll down to the horizontal blue section, the Benchmark link is on the far right) for some info on these players. Secrets is well regarded in the tests that they perform for video.

...and the stock DVD-5900 sounds a bit better than the DVD-2900. The 5900 video is quite good too. I'm enjoying it via DVI upconverted to 720p. It will be interesting to see what Denon delivers to replace the 5900.
