In Reply to: suggestions for a 32-36" analog tv under $1k posted by Ogsarg on December 19, 2004 at 13:32:34:
Hi,I am not a regular poster to this forum (I hang out in vinyl) but have recently considering a conventional TV/monitor to upgrade my HT. I have been looking at the Sony 30" HDTV 16:9 and at around $1K it sure is nice! Circuit City has it under $1K from their website.
I have abandonded it because it is just too massive to go where it would have to be placed. If I had a conventional setup where I could have a regular stand that it could just be plunked down on I would get it in a heartbeat, but alas, that is not the case. To make matters worse, no one will deliver it to my small town for love nor money... sniff.
I am considering LCD because of its weight. While I am posting this comment, I suppose I could ask a question I would like answered... maybe you or another could help me...
I would like to know how to determine the actual screen size (16:9) with only the diagonal demension, say 30". I know that A²+B²=C² but have no clue how to use the ratio to determine A² or B².
Well, any mathematicians around today?
Good luck on your search for the perfect TV/monitor.
Phil
