For my Dad, I connected the following: Toshiba 27A34 TV, Toshiba SD-V392 DVD Player, Luxman L-80V integrated amp and Triangle Titus speakers. The Luxman is ancient but sounds great; the TV and DVD are new. The TV mute button on the remote works with the TV's captive speaker, but won't mute the Luxman once it's hooked up. Dad had an older GE TV before this, and its remote DID mute the Luxman.Help! Is there a way this can be done? Dad's totally anal about muting advertisements, yet wants the full audio sound when watching TV. Any advice appreciated!

Hi thereYou probably have the TV's fixed-level audio outputs connected to the Luxman. That output pair would be the cleaner sounding audio because the audio signals do not pass through the volume & muting circuits. Check the manual or back panel for a variable-level audio outputs, and use that.
