Thanks for the reply. I bought the speakers for cheap on ubid.com a few years back and they have been in storage ever since. I got three pairs of very good speakers for less than the price of one pair of similar new speakers.

I received the speaker brackets over the weekend and mounted them on the wall yesterday. They sound better than expected, though not as good as when they had 2 ft. behind them to breath (bass is lacking). I may consider plugging the ports to see if it makes the sound better or worse (probably). I'm glad I went with this option b/c they look better on the wall, and the brackets put them where they should be for a 5.1 system. I'm willing to live with less bass due to having a sub. Thanks again for your input.
