In Reply to: Any good sources for listings of DVD's with top-notch (AKA 'best') sound? posted by centurymantra on January 3, 2005 at 11:21:51:
Band of Brothers, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Superbit, Jurassic Park dts, The Fifth Element Superbit, Finding Nemo, Gangs of New York, all 3 Lord of the Rings extended editions, The Patriot Superbit, Saving Private Ryan dts, Se7en Vista Series, Spider-man 1&2 Superbit, and Terminator 3. If you want good concert dvds try Coldplay live and the awesome Led Zeppelin dvd. Those are all awesome, but the absolute best thing I've heard so far is Jackass The Movie! LOL! Ok, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. I watched it 2 days ago on digital cable with Dolby 5.1. When the scenes were below deck and people were walking above I actually thought it was my brother walking upstairs. He came downstairs at one point and it was dialogue with the boat creaking in the background. He told me stop making those annoying clicking sounds. That was just cable with Dolby 5.1. I can't wait to watch it from a dvd in dts using a better digital cable.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have seen 'Master and Commander' and, yes, that has rather amazing sound. Is Jackass The Movie a DTS mix by chance...? Maybe I'll wait for the Criterion box set edition before checking it out. :^D
