For crisper images, I'd buy a PSaudio 300 powerplant to run my projector. I found that it made a much larger difference than cable swapping for the picture quality and it is definitely in your price range. Images were sharper and steadier (Sharp z10000 dlp projector) and the colors were more vivid with the powerplant. Depending upon your projector/display you may wish to add some dedicated scaler but this will cost a bit more -- again, I ended up getting the runco made specifically for dlp's and this with the powerplant has my video system fully tweaked.
