Thanks for the post.I'm looking at the HK235 as well as at the Pioneer 1014.
One question. Are you feeding the 235 with the analog outputs of your DVD player or of the TV tuner? Or are you feeding it with the digital outputs? If so optical or coaxial?

Mel...My DVD is connected via coax...you have analog or optical options as well and can connect analog and digital simultaneously on all source.
SAT audio via optical.
TV tuner not connected. I pre out from 235 analog to T V configured and designed for center speaker.
you can component video into the 235 from 2 sources, and one componennt vid out by standard component vid connects (rca jacks - u can usw rg6 minimum coax w/ rca plugs).
